Project Frame Launches Guide to Avoided Emissions Assessment with WBCSD, Impact Convergence Forum at LCAW 2025
Project Frame is proud to announce the release of Avoided Emissions & Climate Investing: A Guide for Investors and Businesses, in collaboration with World Business Council for Sustainable Development, and the Impact Convergence Forum.
The launch week commenced with an in-person event during London Climate Action Week, held at the Carbon Trust office, attracting over 35 attendees. This event, co-organized by Prime Coalition as the nonprofit home of Project Frame, Impact Convergence Forum, and the WBCSD, provided an opportunity to commemorate our collective effort in publishing the guide and explore potential avenues for continued collaboration.
Our collaborative efforts are centered on advancing methodologies for assessing and disclosing avoided emissions. We are dedicated to providing best practices and resources that promote accountable, transparent, and impactful climate investing. Our goal was to fortify the connections between finance and the real economy, bridging the divide between early- and late-stage participants in private sector climate action.
Subsequently, we hosted a virtual launch event accessible to the public, introducing the guide to those unable to attend our in-person meeting.
“ We knew that there was something for early stage, and there were more and more things for late stage, but in the middle—where a lot of private equity and growth lives—[investors] were saying where do we look if we're in between?” said Keri Browder, Prime Coalition’s Chief Growth Officer on the call.
She explained that this guide will help those find the right tools and resources that meets their need, no matter the type of climate solutions they invest in.
“ It's not meant as an expansion or a subset to either the Frame or WBCSD methodology, but a guide to navigate the space and give concise guidance on core topics,” explained WBCSD Director of Climate Action Marvin Henry.
He continued that in addition to a comprehensive methodological landscape, the guide also covers specific topics “like solution types, timeframes, eligibility,” while also providing a comprehensive comparison between the Frame and WBCSD’s methodologies.
“ [Frame’s] methodology was built to help inform better decision making and even at the earliest stages, access to data is typically significantly more challenging than what you can access through your investment or portfolio companies as they scale,” said Browder.
“With ICF’s help, there are many key components and steps to both [Frame and WBCSD’s] methodology that overlap,” Browder continued. “Both methodologies can be useful for different stages of the investment lifecycle.”
